For some, the goal is to lose excess calories, for others the goal may be to gain extra weight and stay in shape, while some simply want to maintain good health. No matter what your goals are, you have to balance the roles of exercise and good eating in your life. If you're looking to start exercising for your health, and this is your first time doing so, listen to some of our fitness tips for beginners.

"Start by setting small, achievable goals and aligning them with your fitness level and aspirations. Whether it's losing weight, building muscle, or improving your overall fitness, having clear goals will keep you motivated," experts advise.

Before starting any exercise program, it is recommended to consult a certified fitness professional. They can assess your current fitness level, help you set realistic goals, and design an exercise program based on your needs and abilities. Ideally, you should also have a health check.

Experts recommend starting slowly, as it's important to enter the gym slowly to avoid injury and burnout. Start with lighter weights and lower intensity exercises and gradually increase intensity and duration over time.

"When performing a workout, prioritize proper form and technique over lifting weights. Not only will this reduce your risk of injury, it will also ensure you're targeting the correct muscles and maximizing the results of each workout," shares the expert.

Always start your workout with a dynamic warm-up to prepare your body for the workout. This can include light aerobic exercise, stretching, and mobility exercises. Likewise, cool off with static stretches to aid muscle recovery and prevent stiffness.

Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water before, during and after your workout. Dehydration can negatively impact your performance and affect your overall health.

"Pay attention to your body's signals. If you experience pain, dizziness or shortness of breath during exercise, stop exercising and seek medical attention if necessary. Overcoming excessive discomfort or ignoring pain can lead to injury," the expert added.
