By WEI YUCHEN

A woman's fat vs. thin

KAJANG: Nowadays, obesity and weight loss continue to be hotly debated topics. On the eve of the "World Obesity Day" (March 4), the World Obesity Federation warned that if no action is taken, by 2035, more than half of the global population or more than 4 billion people will be overweight or obese, that is, every four people in one person belongs to the obese or overweight. Malaysia's Deputy Health Minister Datuk Noah Azmi pointed out that Malaysia is currently the "most obese" country in Southeast Asia, unhealthy people will lead to the country to face losses, which in turn affects the economy. "I hope to reduce the rate of obesity in the country, have a healthier people will not let the country face losses, the country does not need to spend more money to treat diseases caused by obesity."

"Right choices to be made"

Everyone is different in height and weight, so everyone has a different need to lose weight. Some overweight people are also full of concern about their size, while others who are clearly slim feel they need to lose weight. There are all kinds of ways to lose weight, but choosing the right way to lose weight is important, and incorrect weight loss habits can have serious consequences.

Hu Xingyu, 21, UTAR student, 55kg

Hu Xingyu is a college student, according to his height and weight calculated BMI value derived, his body type is considered healthy and even a little on the thin side of the type, but he said that he will be particularly concerned about his figure. "If being out of shape would bother me, I would choose to lose weight. I think the healthy way to lose weight is to exercise and eat less, whereas taking diet pills and liposuction can take a toll on your body." He said.

Gan Yuchao, 20, College student in China, 82kg

Gan Yuchao's BMI number shows some slight overweight, and he is somewhat concerned about his weight. He tried to lose weight before by jumping rope and other exercises, but the effect was not great. He said, "I think you can tell if you need to lose weight based on your body mass index, and then exercise and diet control are better ways to lose weight, I guess, but dieting can lead to being too thin."

Zhong Jingning, 16, junior high school student, 60kg

Zhong Jingning is a junior high school student who doesn't think she needs to lose weight even though her BMI is overweight. "I don't think I have any desire to lose weight unless I am in an unhealthy state or have been advised to do so by my doctor," she said. Moderate exercise and a sensible diet are what I consider healthy ways to lose weight, but dieting is bad."

Yu Zixuan, 19, College student, 47kg

Yu Zixuan is a college student who, contrary to Zhong Jingning, is clearly on the thin side but feels she needs to lose weight. She has tried a popular online diet called "liquid fasting", which involves drinking only liquids such as water, milk and soymilk for a specified period and not eating any solid food. However, there is no evidence that this method has a definite effect on weight loss, and it may lead to malnutrition and easy rebound. She believes that losing weight by dieting can lead to hypoglycemia or overeating.

Xu Yifan, 27, fitness instructor, 60kg

Xu Yifan is a fitness instructor, she once had trouble losing weight and tried dieting to lose weight, but then she came into contact with fitness, so she changed her figure through exercise. She said that if the health indicators are exceeded and affect the health is the need to lose weight, through exercise and a reasonable and healthy diet to reduce weight, and dieting and weight loss products can lead to malnutrition, anemia, intestinal function problems, but also cause hair loss, affect the mood and get the counterproductive effect, and serious or even anorexia.

The fact is that everyone has different requirements for their body shape, and losing weight is still a matter of choice for most people, whereas losing weight is a necessity if it affects their life and health because of excess weight. But if you feel the need to lose weight, you must choose a suitable and healthy way to lose weight, not for a moment of significant results and go down the wrong path, harming their own bodies.
